Hi everyone, forgive me if I already posted about this. Things are a little crazy here for me. I just opened a yahoo group for GLBT. Perhaps none of you write in these genres or aren't interested, but I wanted everyone to know they are most welcome to join. While the posts must relate to the GLBT genres, we have several publishers with us who publish in all areas and two YA GLBT writers now, bloggers, readers and many authors. If you're curious or think you'd like to know more about these growing genres, please come on down. Follow this link and jump in and introduce yourself. Let us know how your conference was. I went in April and it was well worth the time. There were so many good workshops and opportunities to meet people. I highly recommend the pitch appointments with an agent or publisher if you have work ready. It is one of the best ways for them to meet new writers and a lot more personal and effective than a query letter. I was able to submit my YA manuscript with an agent and am waiting for her reply. :)

Yes, I went there yesterday, also see that there is an off-shoot for fantasy writers. It's somewhat steep. I don't know if I can afford $100 + $20 for that, I'll have to see. But I thought I read that you have to always write romance and nothing but romance--is that true? I mean I'm not going to suddenly write horror, or mysteries. But urban fantasy has romance/bedroom scenes in it. Does this count? I don't know.

I am a happy member of the RWA and yes that is the Romance Writers of America. Here's a link to their home page http://www.rwanational.org/ and you can print the application, send in your dues, and ta-da-you're a member. It's easy and well worth the effort.

I am glad to see that there is a group like this. I have written a Paranormal Romance The Legacy, it has a pretty big following for those that have read it. I am working on the second book to it now; along with other novels of different genres. Trying to get a agent for The Legacy--crossing my fingers.
