Thank you Kay... I will look into that.

I took a Short Fiction class, and I'm taking a Plot & Structure course now through WD. The Short Fiction class I learned a lot, and got great feedback from the instructor (Mark Spencer). The one I'm taking now I'm not thrilled with. Like Kay said, I…

Bad analogy... not eating poison is kind of the ultimate example of vicarious learning. But telling somebody HOW to do something that one has never done is another story. People don't generally take golf lessons from people who've never played the…

You might want to at least check out what ed2go has to offer for fiction writers (there's an ed2go link in the left margin of most of the pages on my website). They are much less expensive than many other online workshops I know about (around a hund…

I took a WD novel writing course from a published author. I got scanty feedback from the instructor and virtually none from the other six students. I've learned more from studying writing-technique books and getting crits from sites like Forward Mo…

No way would I even consider this for a second. But I suggest something to those who are. Try to assure yourself that the people teaching the course have any experience or qualification in the area they are teaching. I am seeing courses on self-publ…

Someone inquired about being my buddy, but nothing yet. I really thought this would appeal to people, but I am finding that this site can often be just for looking and not for the active writer.
And my students are really the best part of the job, Mellisa. For the most part they are pretty good, but the bosses I could do without, and unfortunately I am the foreigners' boss so I act as more of a shit-shield than anything else.

I am a liberterian... I prefer no laws.

Not something that is practical I know.

Enjoying students is good. I have family here who are teachers and the students sound like nightmares for the most part. Anhow.

Have you found a writing buddy yet?

You sounds as though working for the government is bad. I would rather have a government job than work for a capitalist like I do now. I like my students but hate by bosses because all they see is money. There is no heart here...just like back in the States
But that said I do like it here. I still find the culture odd after 2 1/2 years but I get health care for free and live quite cheaply despite my very nice salary.
