Sometimes it's the feel, the sound in context? I'd have to see the whole paragraph or sequence before I'd give "for" a toss. Without "for" is cleaner, making the stand alone sentence stronger; but does this change strike the chord you need? Does the…

Yes! I like that. I agree; the 'for' bothered me also. "This was not possible; his mother was long gone into the ground conversing with worms and having high tea with beetles." Very nice!

BK said to add a comma, but I think the problem is the word "for." It is such a formal word that I fixated on it. Maybe you could use a semi colon in its place, and to keep the formality and add a bit humor, change "having tea with beetles," to "hav…

I think it's great! I'd keep reading! It might be macabre, but it's macabre in a fun way! Tea with beetles? great!

I realy like it also! Would possibly add comma after "possible".

Hi Jamie, No, it's not macabre or weird in my book (pun intended). I think good writing is not being afraid to put words together in an unusual way -- allow the reader ponder, even feel a little uncomfortable at times; and laugh. I love to make my…

I really like this too. It makes me think of someone's tiny little secret. Something you wouldn't freely admit to someone else when describing your day.

Thank you! It seems silly but hearing that someone else has had similar issues makes things a little less crazy in my head. Lol.

Days like today.

I swear. It is days like today that I question myself and my place in life. I normally love my job but lately I hate getting up and dragging into that office. I have to finish school. I cannot keep going to that cube farm to rot away. I want my own damn office and my own little minions to torture. Nah. I don't think I could torture anyone. I just want to get a job done well and have good days.

I need to channel this somewhere...

One Day

I have probably the same dream as everyone else on here. I really want at least one published book before I die. I have written a lot of little short excerpts and have some really good story ideas. I've started two or three books but don't get further than the character development or back story then things in life just sort of get in the way. I work full time. I'm a wife and a mother of 2 kids while also going to school to get a degree in accounting. There is always something. I have been tryin… Continue
